Q&A's
What inspired you to pursue a career in the automation industry, and how did you get started in this field?
After working in academia for eleven years, my first introduction to the automation industry came through a move to the South of England, where I joined a R&D project. It involved the development and production of regenerative fuel cells, to provide ‘black start’ capability to power stations, back in the 1990’s.
Through this initial introduction, I developed my love of life-long learning and adopted the role of manufacturing trainer, as part of my line leader responsibilities. In time, I developed a passion for training and was able to move into a full time training role within pharma, starting my career at Medimmune AZ where I developed and delivered regulatory compliance courses.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked at several pharma companies during my career, developing and delivering training and believe that we are all on a life-long learning journey, feeling a sense of accomplishment and continuously improving, through growing and learning.
What do you enjoy most about working at ITS, and what sets you apart from other automation businesses in the industry?
ITS brings together subject matter experts from a wide range of industries, creating a high performing team able to support the automation needs of any size company.
Colleagues have a wealth of experience and not only enable customers to overcome their current issues, but also support organizations to grow and expand, through continuous improvement and planning ahead for future industry changes and trends.
Everyday is different providing myself and my colleagues with new challenges and opportunities to grow and develop, together with our customers.
What do you like to do outside of work to unwind and recharge, and how do you balance your personal and professional life?
I love spending time in my garden and grow a range of fruit, vegetables and flowers. (I’m also good at growing weeds too!). I find it both relaxing and rewarding, and it helps me to reflect and regroup, after a busy day at work.
