Industrial Technology Systems (ITS) Ltd is proud to announce the successful award of a multi-million-pound automation framework agreement with CPI.
With CPI’s drive for innovation and cost-effective market entry, the company has a strategy to increase the adoption of automation and robotics to optimise operations across its diverse sites, which include R&D and manufacturing. By streamlining and optimising its operations, CPI will help to reduce the time and costs associated with introducing new products, which is crucial for competitiveness in the global market.
Dave Berry, Director of Digital Business Systems at CPI, said: "It is essential for CPI to explore a comprehensive package of automation solutions to drive forward innovations in manufacturing across a wide range of disciplines, and we were impressed by what Industrial Technology Systems has to offer and their collaborative, flexible approach. We look forward to working with them to drive our research and expand our offer to companies looking to develop transformational products and processes.
Over the next four years, ITS will contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive range of collaborative automation solutions to enhance the efficiency of laboratories and manufacturing facilities across CPI's UK sites, including Sedgefield, Darlington, Wilton, and the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre in Glasgow.
Recognising the transformative potential of automation and robotics, the CPI team has jointly awarded the framework agreement to support their laboratory automation requirements, both current and future. The primary focus of the contract is collaborative automated solutions for the preparation and analysis of formulated products at CPI's Sedgefield facility, with expansion to other facilities within CPI’s network.
Andrew Stephens, ITS Sales & Marketing Director, explains:
“During the tender process, ITS submitted proposals for three lots and succeeded in each. This demonstrates the company’s significant expertise and value proposition in automation, validation and life sciences.
The framework covers providing collaborative robotic solutions and autonomous mobile robots, integration services and ongoing maintenance support. ITS will be responsible for equipment supply, installation, and commissioning, including design work, proof of concept studies, user training, upgrades, validation, ongoing maintenance and support.
The solutions will deliver significant benefits to CPI, including increased operational efficiency, improved process accuracy, and enhanced laboratory productivity. Implementing advanced robotics will streamline workflows, reduce operational costs, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation at CPI.”
ITS will also advise CPI on collaborative robotics platforms and recommend innovative solutions to improve the efficiency of CPI’s laboratories and manufacturing processes, driving innovation and operational excellence.
Andrew Mills, ITS Managing Director, stated:
"This framework aligns perfectly with ITS’ strategy, maximising the opportunities of industry for digital transformation within the life sciences sector. We are delighted to have secured this prominent framework, and our team is eager to collaborate with CPI to deliver innovative solutions that will significantly enhance their operations.
